Recycling Tips

• Look for goods with less packaging or packaging which is easily recycled and avoiding plastic packaging where possible

• Re-use items when you have finished with them, like envelopes or turning household waste into compost for the garden

• Reduce packaging waste e.g. buy loose apples rather than those wrapped in plastic on a polystyrene tray

• Avoid using disposables, goods that are used once and then thrown away. There are products designed to be re-used or have a longer life, like re-chargeable batteries and low energy light bulbs

• Save on your electricity bills by installing low energy light bulbs throughout your home.

• Store food in the fridge in a re-usable container rather than wrapping it in cling film or foil

• Use canvas shopping bags, say 'no' to unwanted plastic carrier bags
