Plastics recycling collections coming soon to Shropshire

Shropshire Council have revealed a £1.2million scheme to collect plastic materials as part of theor kerbside collection system.

Indications are that the service which has already been pledged for the Shrewsbury area by 2010 will be rolled out to the whole of Shropshire by 2013.

Shrewsbury area residents can already recycle plastic bottles - but must take them to one of the following recycling sites:

  • Battlefield Household Recycling Centre
  • The Red Lion Pub (Bomere Heath)
  • Spar shop car park (Castlefields)
  • The Bell Inn (Cross Houses)
  • The Horseshoes Inn (Dorrington)
  • The Cock Inn (Hanwood)
  • Morrisons (Harlescott)
  • Sainsbury's (Meole Brace)
  • The Callow Hall Community Centre (Minsterley)
  • Coop (Radbrook Shopping Centre)
  • Frankwell Car Park
  • ASDA (Old Potts Way)
  • Sundorne Sports Village
  • Tesco Extra (Battlefield)

The scheme will be funded by £1,199,500 from the budget set aside for the reduction of expenditure in the area of landfill costs.
