Recycling rates in Scotland are on the rise

The recycling rate in Scotland has continued to rise according to figures from SEPA, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency for the year to September 2008.

The recycling and composting rate rose to 32.9% while the rate for the Q2 of 2008/09 (July to Sept) went up to 36.3%.

Scottish councils have been given ambitious targets to meet of 50% in 2013, 60% in 2020 and 70% by 2025 - Richard Lochhead, the Scottish Environment Secretary said much more needed to be done to improve recycling performance in Scotland.
