Tesco cuts ClubCard points for recycling

Tesco has stopped giving Clubcard points for materials such as glass and plastic collected by its recycling machines after 'misuse' of their system.

Tesco said people were cutting up items such as plastic bottles in order to get more green ClubCard points for recycling

Previously most of the Tesco recycling machines gave one point for every four recycled items. Now Green Clubcard points will only be issued for recycling aluminium cans.

Tesco's automated recycling machines were first introduced in 2005 and will sort glass. plastic, and metal before shredding the waste.
