Top Tips for Recycling in Shrewsbury this Christmas
Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council offered residents the following recycling tips for Christmas.
You can place your Christmas tree (natural trees only) out for collection along with your green bin on your garden waste collection day, following the Christmas break (after 7th January 2008.) Christmas cards can be recycled with your garden waste and cardboard (green wheeled bin) but NOT with the paper recycling (blue box) Wrapping paper can be recycled in your blue box Please do not place plastic bags or bin liners in the green recycling bin. The plastic can cause severe problems at our composting facility and may result in the rejection of an entire truck load of compostable material. Please help us by placing no more than one small bag of textiles out on each recycling collection day. If you have large quantities of textiles to recycle it is better to donate them to a charity shop. Please DO NOT bag your cans or glass when putting them in your recycling box, but please bag textiles and batteries. Please make sure all recycling boxes and bins are out for collection by 7am and returned to your property at the end of the day. If you have a lid for your recycling box, please remove it before placing the box out for collection.
